The Extended Project Qualification

Students in the Sixth Form can opt to carry out an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). The qualification is equivalent to an AS Level course that involves a university style research project. It can be submitted in either an essay or artefact form and culminates in a presentation in front of an audience.

The EPQ is well supported within SPH Sixth Form and is suitable for self-motivated, self-directed students who are eager to explore their own area(s) of study.

Recent research titles have included:
• How to make a Psychopath - nature or nurture?
• To what extent should precedence influence modern legal criminal trials?
• Is the genetic modification of human embryos ethical, and should we continue research in this field?
• How have government changes and plans in policy concerning efficiency affected NHS Accident and Emergency Department efficiency under a conservative government?
