Information Booklet Introduction

Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome to the SPH family. We are delighted that you and your child will be joining us for what I am sure will be an extremely exciting, rewarding and enriching seven years ahead. It sounds like a long time, but the time really does fly! Whilst times are uncertain at present please be assured that we will always put your child first in every decision we take and will make sure they are well cared for and loved during their time at SPH.

Our aim here is simple. We want to be the best school for your child and we will work tirelessly to achieve this goal. In practice this means achieving outstanding grades – better than any your child could hope to achieve elsewhere. It means having the opportunities to be enriched by a wide variety of extra-curricular activities, where all are encouraged to participate and feel valued for their unique gifts and talents. Most importantly, it means placing our Catholic Christian faith and identity firmly at the heart of all that we say and do.

We cannot do this on our own and we are very blessed to have such supportive and committed parents. The proverb goes: “It takes a village to raise a child” and we embrace that here at SPH. We know that parental engagement makes a considerable difference to the outcomes for young people and so getting the communication between school and home is important. We are here to support you as well. Open Door is the first Wednesday of every month, when you can come and see me or a member of the leadership team without an appointment. Alternatively teachers and heads of year are contactable via emails which are available on the school website and appointments can of course be made in school at any time.

Understandably the first few days and weeks of Year 7 are a nerve-racking time for many; parents included! Do please feel free to speak to us about any concerns, whilst also allowing your child the space and time to flourish in their new environment. Do keep your children and the whole school community in your prayers as they venture on this new journey ahead.

I look forward to meeting you soon.

Mr David Carter, Executive Headteacher
