GCSE Results – They have done it again!Key figures
• A*–A Grades *– 25%
• 5+ A*–C Grades *– 85%
• A*–C Grades (incl. English and Maths) *– 79%
Despite tougher GCSEs in Maths and English, rapid change in the curriculum and new
assessment criteria, students in Year 11 at SPH have again surpassed themselves.
Results equal the schools best-ever grades, with 85% of students achieving 5 or more
GCSEs at a Grade C or higher, and 79% achieving 5 or more including English and
Maths. One quarter of all grades were A*/A.
Particular commendation goes to twins, James and Rebecca Angus
who bagged 21 A*-A grades between them; a full house! Other
students to gain the top grades in every subject include Zach Hollis,
Kristina Coles, Katherine Greenway, Emma Hattersley, Maddie Murtagh
and Katie Smith. Lucy Owen, a student in Year 9, sat her GCSE Maths (2
years early) yet still came away with the highest possible grade
(equivalent to an A**) and only being awarded to the Top 3% of students
in the Country.
At a time when the teaching of Languages is on the decline nationally,
it was pleasing to see that both German and Spanish achieved over
90% A*-C, along with Music, Drama, Textiles and English.
David Carter, Headteacher, commented, "Behind these outstanding
results are individuals who have worked exceptionally
hard and shown a dedication and commitment to
their studies which has been very impressive to
witness. We are very proud of all that they have
achieved and look forward to welcoming the vast majority, along with
new students, into our Sixth Form. My thanks go to the staff who have
taught the students so well and coped with enormous amounts of
change in the curriculum and to our ever-supportive parents, without
whom we couldn´t do it!"
